Located in the Capital city's exclusive seaside neighbourhood of Oriental Bay is an award winning 10-room, boutique Hotel. 4.5 star, self-rated Ohtel provides true international class Urban Chic.
Ohtel is adjacent to Wellington's principal entertainment precinct, and en route to the city from the international airport. Major attractions such as Te Papa, Oriental Bay beach, theatres, restaurants & clubs, are a stone's throw away. Beyond, the city hub creates a picturesque night-time back-drop.
Whether hosting international visitors, that 'must impress' corporate guest, or seeking a weekend escape without the hassle of travelling to the regions many luxury rural accommodation options, Ohtel offers an inspirational environment for you to enjoy. Bathrooms are the focal point of each room. Large expanses of glass reveal luxurious two-person baths, oversized showers, and the finest natural toiletries. Regular media options are enhanced by digital audio and pod-casts in each room, all via LCD flat screens, free Wi-Fi and 50+ Sky channels - Tivoli speakers complete the sensory experience.
While modern urban boutique hotels aren't unique, the 'Mid-Century' furnishings that adorn the interior spaces of this hotel certainly are. From chairs to ceramics, tables to clocks – the designer, Alan Blundell has filled the rooms and lobby with treasures he collected over a 3 year period.

Wellington, named by Lonely Planet as number 4 of 2011's Top Ten Places to Visit, has gone through a renaissance in recent years. Jason Dundas checked out a designer hotel (called 'Ohtel') by the sea and a nearby bar for a taste of this NZ beauty. Watch the segment on slide 10.

I have also enjoyed a stay at ohtel, a friendly 10-room boutique hotel on Oriental Parade with a serious commitment to designer chic.

"One of Wellington's strengths is its willingness to you what's going on whever you go. Artworks are labelled, sights are sign posted and everything is explained"

Nightlife-wise, Alan of Ohtel is well hooked in. I particularly enjoyed our trip to Motel, an excellent bar with young, friendly staff in military regalia. Ohtel is a real find and first of its kind in little old New Zealand—well worth a detour south of the equator!
Christian Houge
Your front of house staff, the rooms and the overall complete package that Ohtel offers is world class. I look forward to returning as well as recommending Ohtel to my local and international friends and business partners as this is the place to stay when in Wellington.
